What I learned today
Aliyah
Cheshbon
כ׳ באדר ה׳תש״ע (March 6, 2010)
Having gone through the process of making Aliyah (B”H) and knowing others who are contemplating it, I think the below statement couldn’t have been said any better -
“So many people have a Cheshbon (calculation) as to why they are not moving to Eretz Israel. One has children who go to college, another wants a better retirement package . . . We should take a lead from the Torah, that before the Jews entered Eretz Israel with Yehoshua, they first killed the King of Cheshbon…” –Rav Avraham Yitzchak Kook

Israeli Home Phone Line Options
כ״ח בטבת ה׳תש״ע (January 14, 2010)
You have 3 options when it comes to ordering a phone line for your home in Israel – Bezeq, HOT & VOIP (012, Orange, 018, Olehphone). Below is a brief description of each:
- Bezeq (Bezeq’s Site) – offers a standard landline. You don’t need anything other than phone jacks (and phones) in order to use this service.
- If you use a corded phone that does not require electricity to function, your phone will still work during a power outage
- Packages offered tend to be more expensive compared to the other 2 options below
