Cheshbon
כ׳ באדר ה׳תש״ע (March 6, 2010)
Having gone through the process of making Aliyah (B”H) and knowing others who are contemplating it, I think the below statement couldn’t have been said any better -
“So many people have a Cheshbon (calculation) as to why they are not moving to Eretz Israel. One has children who go to college, another wants a better retirement package . . . We should take a lead from the Torah, that before the Jews entered Eretz Israel with Yehoshua, they first killed the King of Cheshbon…” –Rav Avraham Yitzchak Kook

כ״ז בשבט ה׳תש״ע (February 11, 2010)
Not only am I going to tell you how you can fulfill 36 positive mitzvot from the torah (מצוות עשה דאורייתה) in 5 minutes, but you’re going to do it – of all ways – by watching/listening to a youtube music video!
What in the world am I talking about ??
The second Be’ur Halacha (written by the Chafetz Chaim) on the first halacha in the Shulchan Aruch (Orach Chaim) qoutes the Sefer Hachinuch as follows: More >
Adam the wine MAVEN
כ״ד בשבט ה׳תש״ע (February 8, 2010)
For anyone who is remotely interested in wines you HAVE to call Adam Neustadter. Not only does he offer tours of wineries throughout Israel or the upcoming wine show but he also does wine tastings, which are a great way to celebrate a special occasion with friends. I was at one of his wine tastings this past motzei shabbat and was absolutely amazed with his knowledge of everything relating to wines. From wineries, to the wine making process, to the different bottles used & so much more – the guy knows it all. Granted i’m a complete idiot when it comes to wines but there were others there who are regular wine drinkers and everyone had a great time.
Bottom line, whether you consider yourself knowledgeable or a beginner, if it’s related to wine Adam Neustadter has your answer. You can email him at IWEC18@GMAIL.COM or call 054-234-1319.
Below is the info about his upcoming wine show tour this Thursday. More >
why YOU should use Gmail
י״ז בשבט ה׳תש״ע (February 1, 2010)
Gmail is “Google’s approach to email” and here are my reasons why YOU should use it too :
- Spam Filter – Aside from being annoying, spam can also be dangerous for unsuspecting/naive users . Gmail has -in my experience- by far the best spam filter AND it is constantly ‘learning’ and improving thanks to its users.
- Chat – Gmail’s interface has Google Talk integrated into it. This allows you to chat in real time with other Gmail users as well as AOL/AIM users. Installing the plugin found HERE, gives you the ability to have a face-to-face converstation (or audio-only if you don’t have a webcam) with your friends
- Consolidate your other email accounts – One of the first things people tell me when I suggest they switch to Gmail is “but I’ve had my current email for so long and I don’t want to get rid of it…at least not right away”. And “I don’t want to have to check 3 different accounts every day – I’m too lazy”.
Well, NO PROBLEM. Gmail gives you the ability to check your non-gmail email accounts AND send as those accounts from within gmail. So you can sign up for an account, tell everyone about it and continue managing your old accounts all in one place. - FREE POP3 & IMAP – If you want to use an email application (i.e. Outlook, Thunderbird, Windows Mail etc..) to check your account, you’ll need either POP3 or IMAP access to your account. Between Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo & AOL, Gmail is the only service that offers free POP3 & IMAP access to your account.
